Pay strike set to go ahead at publishing giant Springer Nature

National Union of Journalists seeks improvement on 5.8 per cent pay offer

The first in a planned series of eight one-day strikes by editorial staff of the scientific journal group Springer Nature remains set to go ahead on Thursday 20 June.

Members of the National Union of Journalists have rejected management’s offer of a 5.8 per cent pay increase, saying that their pay has failed to keep pace with increases in the cost of living. They say that the growing costs of mortgages, fuel and food have made it increasingly difficult to live in London, where the company’s offices are based.
