The Science and Technology Select Committee has approved the appointment of Phil Smith as next chairman of the governing board of the Technology Strategy Board.
Smith, chief executive of the information technology company Cisco UK & Ireland, will take on the role when formally confirmed by the business secretary, Vince Cable.
