Universities win procurement exemption

Most universities in England will be exempt from European regulations on procurement under the new funding regime, the universities and science minister, David Willetts, has revealed.

Speaking at the Conservative party conference in Manchester on 4 October, Willetts said that since universities would from now on receive 40 per cent of their funding from the government rather than 60 per cent, their position had changed dramatically.
