London home for flagship medical research centre is worth the extra cost

The UK government has defended its decision to locate the £650 million Francis Crick Centre in central London, saying the extra costs of the prime location are “outweighed” by the benefits of being close to a “large number of existing centres of excellence”.

The government published its response to the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee’s report on the centre on 13 September.
