MPs badger government over cull policy

MPs have voted against the UK government’s policy of culling badgers in an attempt to stop bovine tuberculosis in cattle.

The motion to drop the cull was passed by 147 votes to 28. Proposed by the Green Party MP for Brighton, Caroline Lucas, it called on the government “to stop the cull and implement the more sustainable and humane solution of both a vaccination programme for badgers and cattle, along with improved testing and biosecurity”.
