The proposed merger between the British Antarctic Survey and the National Oceanography Centre was strongly criticised during a House of Lords debate on 18 October.
Many called for the plan to be abandoned, or at least delayed until a full financial case can be seen and discussed by the Lords’ science and technology select committee.
