House of Lords debates animal research update law

The House of Lords has been debating proposed legislation governing the use of animals in research in the UK.

The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 is being updated to comply with an EU directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The implementation of the updates to the act must be “considered” by both Houses of Parliament.
