Lords give green light to animal legislation update

The House of Lords has approved an update to legislation on the use of animals in research.

The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 is being updated to comply with an EU directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The updated act was approved by the House of Lords on 17 December after being passed through the House of Commons on 4 December.
