The House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing with Paul Golby, the preferred candidate for becoming chairman of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, on 7 March.
Golby, who is the former chief executive of energy company E.ON, would replace John Armitt. The committee will produce a report on whether it views him as suitable for the post.
