The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee has approved the appointment of Paul Golby, the government’s preferred candidate, as next chairman of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
Following a pre-appointment hearing on 7 March, the committee found that despite Golby’s business focus, “his grounding as an engineer and contact with the engineering community would appear to remain strong as evinced by his Chairmanship of Engineering UK”.
