Climate committee assesses the impact of Scottish independence

Members of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee began grilling politicians and academics on 17 April about the likely effects of Scottish independence on energy and climate change.

MPs will be looking at the value of future oil and gas revenues and whether these would accrue to the Scottish Government if Scotland does become independent. This will include an examination of the workability of creating an ‘oil fund’ or ‘sovereign wealth fund’ and the implications for energy security and cross-border markets.
