The Scottish National Party’s general election manifesto says that in the next parliament the party will build on the support for innovation that it has provided while running the Scottish Government.
The SNP’s manifesto, published on 20 April, lists “fostering a culture of innovation” as one of the party’s aims. It says that the party would continue to support a range of innovation initiatives already announced in the November 2014 Scottish Government publication One Scotland—Programme for government 2014-15.
For example, the party says it would establish a minister-led innovation forum and would continue to support Scotland’s network of Innovation Centres, “so that we can ensure effective knowledge and innovation transfer from our academic research base into the wider business community”. It would also establish a £1 million Innovation Challenge Fund to address major societal and industrial challenges.
