Cambridge-based local groups, businesses, MPs and academics have today launched a campaign to keep the UK in the European Union.

The launch event, due to take place on the afternoon of 29 January at the University of Cambridge’s Pembroke College, will be attended by the university’s vice-chancellor Leszek Borysiewicz, and the chairman of Cambridge United Football Club Dave Doggett.

According to a press statement, the campaign is “truly non-party” and is supported by a number of politicians, including Daniel Zeichner, Labour MP for Cambridge; his predecessor and former Liberal Democrat MP Julian Huppert, Conservative peer Richard Balfe, Liberal Democrat peer Julie Smith and various representatives of the Green Party.
