Business secretary Greg Clark has announced the publication of the first Science and Innovation Audits to map the technological strengths of regions across the UK.
Speaking at the Innovate UK conference in Manchester on 3 November, Clark said that the regional audits had highlighted strengths that could be used to increase international collaboration and boost inward investment in areas such as advanced materials, financial services technologies, high-value manufacturing and digital technologies.
Clark said that the information provided in these audits would feed into to the government’s planned industrial strategy—providing specific strengths that can be built on “to unlock the potential that exists in all sectors across the UK”.
