Two top economists leave Corbyn’s advisory team

Two members of the Labour Party’s economic advisory committee have said they will not back Jeremy Corbyn in the party's leadership contest.

Simon Wren-Lewis and David Blanchflower expressed reservations about Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership and his ability to win elections in an article published on 1 August by The Guardian.

They also revealed that the advisory group, which includes French economist Thomas Picketty, Joseph Stiglitz of Columbia University and Mariana Mazzucatto of the University of Sussex, has only met twice since its creation last autumn.
