Nuclear energy ‘ignored’ in election debate, union warns

Scientists’ union Prospect has criticised the UK government for leaving the nuclear industry in the dark on almost every aspect its future.

In particular, union members are demanding more clarity over future investment in new power plants, Prospect said in a press release on 12 May.

It noted that there were several issues left ‘untouched’ in the run up to the election including the lack of appropriate funding for skills training. The union has called on the next government to demonstrate that it values the professionals who will be cleaning up the UK’s nuclear legacy.
