R&D on cyber threats gets £94m boost

Government announces initiatives including six £40m “prosperity partnerships” between industry and universities

The UK government has unveiled a series of research initiatives for developing new technology to boost cybersecurity.

Announced by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 18 October, the spending includes a £36 million partnership with the technology firm Arm to develop new chip technologies that are more resistant to hacking.
