Russell Group calls on parties to prioritise HE and science

Research-intensive universities want future government to target spending 3 per cent of GDP on R&D

As the UK gears up for an early general election, the Russell Group of research-intensive universities has urged the future government to prioritise science, innovation and higher education.

The call comes after MPs agreed to hold a general election on 12 December. The legislation must now be passed by the House of Lords but is not expected to face opposition.
