Russell Group seeks change in visa rules for dependents

     

Concerns raised after Oxford academic’s two children were denied visas

The Russell Group of research-intensive universities and the University of Oxford have urged the government to review its policy on visas for dependents after an academic’s children were initially banned from coming to live with her in the UK.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the Home Office rejected applications for dependent child visas for the four-year-old and nine-year-old daughters of Amber Murrey, an American associate professor of geography at the university.
