Skidmore announces interim deal with European University Institute

Minister also seeks contingency plans for continued access to Erasmus+ in case of no-deal Brexit

In a speech to the British Academy on 9 October, universities and science minister Chris Skidmore said the UK had concluded an interim agreement to remain part of the European University Institute until the middle of next year.

The EUI, based in Florence, Italy, is a prestigious international centre for doctoral and postdoctoral studies and research. It was established in 1972 by the six original members of the European Community, and it hosts the Historical Archives of the European Union.
