
Science and universities minister Chris Skidmore has completed his set of speeches outlining how the UK will reach its goal of spending 2.4 per cent of GDP on R&D by 2027.
But while his speeches have been praised for highlighting the importance of the target, commentators say significant changes are needed if the government wants to have a chance of reaching the goal.
Executive director of the Campaign for Science and Engineering Sarah Main told Research Fortnight that Skidmore’s speeches were “hugely positive in profile, content and scope”.
