MAC to advise on points-based immigration system

As chancellor Sajid Javid spoke about the importance of “international talent” during the government’s set-piece spending announcement, it emerged that the Migration Advisory Committee had been asked to review points-based immigration systems.

On 4 September, the Home Office published a letter to MAC chair Alan Manning from home secretary Priti Patel (pictured). In it, she asked Manning to review points-based systems “to advise on what best practice can be used to strengthen the UK labour market and attract the best and brightest from around the world”.
