Scientists welcome prime minister’s measures but say they are not enough to meet net-zero target

Prime minister Boris Johnson has unveiled a £12 billion “green industrial revolution”, but some scientists doubt the measures are ambitious enough to meet the government’s target of net-zero emissions by 2050.

The 10-point plan, which aims to create up to 250,000 jobs, includes a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans from 2030, as well as ambitions to increase the production of green energy and boost carbon capture.
