UK government ‘reaches capacity target’ for 500,000 tests a day

Liverpool residents and workers will take part in mass-testing pilot

The government has said it has reached its target of having the capacity for 500,000 daily Covid tests by the end of October, even though fewer than 300,000 a day are being carried out.

Testing capacity increased to 519,770 a day on 2 November, and 270,473 tests were actually carried out, according to official figures.
