MPs question the chief scientific and medical advisers on their controversial Covid-19 death projections
The government’s chief scientific adviser has defended his inclusion of a controversial graph that projected 4,000 deaths a day by December in a Downing Street presentation, but he said it was regrettable if the nuances of what it was showing did not come across.
Patrick Vallance was responding to concerns raised by Labour MP Graham Stringer in a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee hearing on 3 November. Stringer said the graph had “frightened a lot of people”.
