Former home secretary David Blunkett says new advisory group would balance Sage’s focus on science

Former UK home secretary David Blunkett has suggested that the country needs to set up a new science advisory group in addition to the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies.

Blunkett (pictured) is calling for Sage’s work to be complemented by so-called ‘Rage’, a recovery advisory group for emergencies, which would be a single multidisciplinary group to grapple with the science as well as economics of responses to crises such as Covid-19.
