Confirmation that government will replace funding lost from any changes to participation in EU programme

The government has said it will “mitigate against any loss of funding” resulting from changes to UK participation in the European Union’s next framework programme, Horizon Europe.

The announcement appeared in the explanatory notes accompanying a government support package for university research. Unveiled on 27 June, the package includes loans to make up for the loss of a cross-subsidy from international students, plus £180 million to support salaries and laboratory costs.
