Health leaders warn PM against scrapping Public Health England

Fears that plans to reorganise health protection system put wider functions of PHE at risk

Health leaders have written to prime minister Boris Johnson voicing their concerns over plans to axe Public Health England.

On 18 August, the government announced plans to create a National Institute for Health Protection, bringing together PHE, as well as NHS Test and Trace and the Joint Biosecurity Centre.
