£800m funding would ‘only allow for an agency the size of a small Darpa office’

The UK government should consider increasing its proposed budget for a new funding agency modelled on the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, experts with knowledge of Darpa have suggested.

Originally known as the Advanced Research Projects Agency, the US funding agency comprises six technical offices, including nearly 100 programme managers, who together oversee around 250 R&D programmes.
