Concerns for capital's QR funding after teaching grant cuts for London universities

There are fears that London weighting could be dropped from quality-related research funding, after the extra cash for the capital was cut from the teaching grant last week.

Research Professional News understands that the London weighting in QR funding—which is 12 per cent for inner London and 8 per cent for outer London—could face the same fate as the London weighting in the teaching grant, which will be dropped after an intervention by education secretary Gavin Williamson on 21 January.
