Labour conference: Chi Onwurah sets out party’s stance on research amid concern over unclear vision

Shadow science minister Chi Onwurah has insisted that research and development are “at the centre of Labour’s plans”, amid concerns over the party’s lack of up-to-date and coherent science policies.

Speaking exclusively to Research Professional News ahead of the Labour Party Conference on 25-29 September, Onwurah said Labour has a “long, proud history of supporting science”, and that R&D was at the heart of its plans to “make Britain the best place to live and work”.
