Government dementia research spending drops, despite promises

Shadow science minister Chi Onwurah accuses government of breaking promises to scientific community

Government spending on dementia R&D has decreased, despite a manifesto pledge to significantly increase research spending on the neurodegenerative disease.

In its 2019 manifesto, the Conservative government promised to double R&D for dementia research to around £160 million a year. However, this promised has still not materialised.
