Commission chaired by former PM Gordon Brown says R&D should be more decentralised

A commission chaired by the former Labour prime minister Gordon Brown has called for a “renewed focus” on boosting R&D outside London and the south-east, with more power given to local leaders.

In a wide-ranging review of the current UK constitution and economy, commissioned by the Labour Party, the 16-strong commission of experts chaired by the former party leader made recommendations to devolve power from London and boost economic prosperity across the country.
