Researchers welcome draft bill but raise ethical concerns about use of technology

A new UK bill aimed at removing barriers to research into gene-editing technology has been cautiously welcomed by the scientific community.

On 25 May, the government introduced the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill into parliament to support the development and marketing of precision-breeding technologies for “more resistant, more nutritious and more productive crops”.
