Freeman confirms academies’ involvement in UK’s plan B

National academies “quickest and easiest” way to get ERC replacement funding through, science minister says

Science minister George Freeman has confirmed that the government is working with the national academies as it prepares to launch an alternative to the EU’s European Research Council scheme.

His confirmation came after multiple sources told Research Professional News that the government had approached the academies over running replacement ERC fellowships if the UK does not associate to the EU’s Horizon Europe R&D programme.
