Minister confirms money allocated to backup plan would be “direct replacement” and go to research

A business department minister has insisted that the government remains committed to joining the EU’s Horizon Europe R&D programme or implementing a backup scheme, despite political chaos in the Conservative party this week.

Speaking yesterday, just before his prime minister resigned, Martin Callanan told the House of Lords that the government “remain[s] committed to associating to Horizon Europe”.
