UK government says EU declined request for association to R&D programmes at disputes committee meeting

The UK government says it is “urgently considering next steps” following an unsuccessful meeting in which EU counterparts reportedly declined the UK access to R&D programmes.

UK access to the programmes—which include the €95.5 billion (£83bn) Horizon Europe, the Earth observation scheme Copernicus and the nuclear research initiative Euratom—have been held up due to a dispute over the Northern Ireland protocol.
