Second funding round provides boosts for locations including Blackpool and Derby
A carbon-neutral artificial intelligence campus in Blackpool and a ‘learning theatre’ for university students in Derby are among the projects awarded funding in the second round of the government’s Levelling Up Fund.
A total of 111 projects were awarded a share of £2.1 billion in this round of the fund, which backs projects across the UK to ‘level up’ the country. The government’s 2022 Levelling Up white paper promised to increase public R&D investment outside the greater south-east region by at least 40 per cent by 2030.
