Aria ‘lacks’ geographical diversity and is ‘too narrow’, MPs hear

Scottish university sector raises concerns with new £800 million research funding agency

The UK’s £800 million Advanced Research and Invention Agency is not geographically diverse enough and “too narrow” in its scope, MPs have heard.

Formally established by the UK government in January this year, Aria, a funder of “high-risk, high-payoff” research, will use a programme-led approach inspired by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
