Labour conference: Shadow chancellor says business investment in UK science has been held back

Shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves has promised “once in a generation” planning reforms to speed up the building of R&D infrastructure, as part of a commitment to drive up business investment in the UK.

Speaking at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool today, Reeves promised to “take on our antiquated planning system” and “accelerate the building of critical infrastructure for energy, transport and housing, to fast-track battery factories, life sciences and 5G infrastructure”.
