King’s speech criticised for sidelining R&D topics

Policy experts disappointed by absence of artificial intelligence and green issues

Research policy experts have expressed their unhappiness with the King’s speech, highlighting issues around green policies, a lack of progress on artificial intelligence and criticism of universities in the government’s plan for future legislation.

In his first King’s speech since becoming monarch, King Charles outlined government priorities for the months ahead on 7 November, but the speech was light on mentions of R&D.
