Diary from former chief scientific adviser Vallance lifts the lid on Covid-era science advice challenges

Former chief scientific adviser Patrick Vallance has lifted the lid on the relationship between government and its science advisers during the pandemic.

Vallance, who was chief scientific adviser during the Covid-19 crisis and headed up the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, said there was some “uncertainty and unfamiliarity with science in government”.
