Science secretary declines to offer researchers guarantee on associating to EU R&D scheme
Science and technology secretary Michelle Donelan has said a deal for the UK to associate to Horizon Europe would need to be on “acceptable and favourable terms” and declined to guarantee that the UK will definitely join the programme.
The minister was speaking after prime minister Rishi Sunak and Commission president Ursula von der Leyen agreed a deal over trade in Northern Ireland—an issue which has held up association to EU R&D programmes for two years. Following the deal it was hoped that a speedy resolution to association to Horizon could be found.
