End to fixed-term tenancies could leave some with no roof over their heads, Hepi says
Government plans to abolish fixed-term tenancy agreements in rental properties risk creating student homelessness, the Higher Education Policy Institute has warned.
In a media briefing on 24 May, Rose Stephenson, director of policy and advocacy at Hepi, said the proposed Renters (Reform) Bill—which had its first reading in parliament last week—could also lead to reduced housing availability for students and increased rent.
