£42.7m boost for UK mental health research

NIHR launches new Mental Health Mission, co-chaired by Manchester and Oxford academics

The National Institute for Health Research has announced a £42.7 million investment for research into the development of tools and services supporting mental wellbeing in adults and children.

The new Mental Health Mission, led by the NIHR with the government’s Office for Life Sciences, will involve patients, NHS staff and clinicians working alongside researchers, with the aim of making the UK a leader in the development and testing of new treatments and technologies to boost mental health provisions and services.
