UK government ‘must do more to support cancer research’

Liberal Democrats seek Cancer Survival Research Act to tackle most deadly forms of the disease

It is the “job of government” to fund groundbreaking cancer research, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey has told his party’s autumn conference in Bournemouth.

Addressing delegates on 26 September, Davey singled out recent trials of a new breast cancer drug and a blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer as examples of why research should be supported.
