UK government to engage with R&D sector ahead of AI summit

Royal Society and British Academy among organisations to host workshops for global artificial intelligence event

The UK government has announced a series of workshops with the R&D community ahead of its international summit on the safety of artificial intelligence.

Taking place on 1-2 November at Bletchley Park, the much-anticipated AI Safety Summit will bring together a small number of countries and experts to discuss the risks posed by the most powerful AI systems. However, in a booklet published on 25 September, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology said it also welcomed insight from “many more individuals and organisations who have the expertise and desire to contribute to this critical topic”.
