Autumn statement: Northern Ireland gets £250m capital boost

The Northern Ireland Executive will receive an extra £250 million for infrastructure funding, chancellor Philip Hammond announced in the autumn statement.

The chancellor’s announcement of the UK government’s commitment to funding infrastructure means the Northern Ireland Executive’s budget will increase by more than £250m through to 2020-21, “to boost productivity and promote growth in Northern Ireland”.

The allocation of the funds will be decided by Northern Ireland’s ministers and set out by its finance minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir when he presents his budget to the Northern Ireland Assembly in December.
