‘Lack of skills’ deters investment in Northern Ireland, MPs told

             

Experts say devolved nation has “lack of people with higher-level skills”, particularly in Stem

A lack of skills has been identified as a major barrier to investment in Northern Ireland.

Speaking at a recent session of the House of Commons Northern Ireland Affairs Committee on investment in the region, Ann Watt, director of the Pivotal Public Policy Forum, said investors were looking for “stability, the right skills and a pipeline of skills, infrastructure and a plan for infrastructure, market access and public investment in R&D” when deciding where to invest.
