Ex-minister joins science and technology committee

David Heath, the former farming minister, has joined the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee.

Heath, Liberal Democrat MP for Somerton and Frome, was the minister for agriculture and food from September 2012 to October 2013, during the period when the government began its controversial pilot cull of badgers to stop the spread of bovine TB.

He was sacked from the post in October in the government reshuffle and according to an article on the BBC website, he announced at the time that he would stand down as an MP at the general election in 2015.
